Hi Ulrike
Thank you for your prompt replies. I can confirm that it is an issue
with LyX because I downloaded the newest installer and it worked!
However, I must note that this installation bug should be fixed or at
least ignored (but logged) because it will confuse people to flag the
installation as having failed. Most people in my situation would
naturally blame MikTeX instead of LyX because MikTeX is SAYING that it
has failed to install properly.
Secondly I noticed that there is no uninstaller...
