If you're stuck with such a trivial question, you better ask it in the appropriate place. There is an active mailing list to which you may subscribe : http://email.esm.psu.edu/mailman/listinfo/macosx-tex You will find there all the help you need (and you're allowed to complain about the fact that floatflt is one the rare packages not included in the TexLive package Manager, although it seems to be free enough). Here a three step way to install floatflt for MacTex: 1. Go to the Tex Catalogue online http://texcatalogue.sarovar.org/entries/floatflt.html (or your favourite CTAN server) and download floatflt, 2. Read the README file and run latex floatflt.ins in the unzipped folder, 3. Install the folder in ~/Library/texmf/tex/latex/ (creating the appropriate folders if needed) , where ~/ stands for /Users/your-user-account. You can now use floatflt with MacTex; with just a slight problem : this is restricted to your account. A better solution is to install it in /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local according to the TDS (and invoking 'sudo texhash' in the terminal to update the file name database). Files installed this way are available to all accounts on your machine. /usr/local/ is not directly available from the Finder, and you have to use the menu item Go->Go to Folder and type the relevant path to open a finder window in that directory. Once you have set a shortcut, you won't need to do it again though :-) You may need to use your admin password in order to install files in /usr/local/texlive. Hope this simplifies your use of LaTex on your MacBook. Benoît RIVET |
