Dear Ulrike, now, after running your example, I see, which problem could occur using the package {ae}. So, now I am using {lmodern} instead of {ae} and my document looks very nicely (also with "bold" subtitles as I used to see before). Thank all of you very much for helping me! What is wrong with a package ae that I should not use it? Run the following document with pdflatex, open the pdf in the reader, then mark (with ctrl+a i think) the text, copy it with crtl+c and paste it to your editor and look what happens with the Umlauts. Then change ae to lmodern (or times or courier) and try again. \documentclass{scrreprt} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \usepackage[ansinew]{inputenc} \usepackage{ae} %\usepackage{lmodern} \begin{document} äöü \end{document} > For trying, I just discluded it from my list of used packages and > now I just have a different (not looking as "bold") font. Probably you don't have the cm-super fonts. Run a document with pdflatex and look at the end of the log file. If fonts with the ending .pk are mentioned there: install the cm-super-fonts (large) or use \usepackage{lmodern} > 2. The cm-super fonts are used if they are installed, the lmodern fonts are called through a package. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen Ulrike Fischer mailto:li...@ni... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
