But they mean that dvips doesn't embed the font, so ghostscript or whatever you are using to process or print the ps has to know about univers-condensedbold and how to find the font. Enabling this is not a miktex issue. > The last time I had to switch > workstations (2005), the shift was much easier, as the folder hierarchies > between the two versions of MiKTeX were the same. No. The folder hierarchy didn't change. Only the name and the location of the main folders of the texmf trees. I e.g. simply added my old local texmf tree (after a bit of cleaning) as a new root to miktex 2.5. and this work fines. The main difference between 2.4. and 2.5. is that in 2.4. localtexmf contained the automated generated files (like .fndb and .pk) and config files like updmap.cfg and local styles -- which did make it difficult to backup. That's why I have used since a long time additional roots (mytexmf) for my styles and important config files. Also miktex 2.4. used updmap.cfg in the same way as miktex 2.5. The only new thing is that you can now access it with initexmf. But this isn't obligatory, I e.g. simply copied my old updmap.cfg the config tree. > If I had the option, I'd simply find the install files for the old version > of MiKTeX I installed in 2005 and be done with it, as I have absolutely no > use at all for new features. Version 2.4.1461 had everything I needed. :( This wouldn't help. The install files doesn't contain your fonts -- and installing them in 2.4. is quite similar to the installation in 2.5. If you fail in 2.5. you won't be able to do it in 2.4. neither. --=20 Mit freundlichen Gr=FC=DFen Ulrike Fischer mailto:li...@ni... |
