David, I do apologize for the challenges that you've faced in getting the software up and running for your organization. To add to Keith's comments, I'll admit that the documentation behind Mifos X is still a bit lacking and we're aiming to improve it each day. We do have an online user manual for Mifos X underway at https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_gam2dS4vhhTjVOeEMxNTVjM0k&usp=sharing . We also want to roll out an OSQA-type site that will provide both a more navigable approach to a forum and a form of an FAQ. A good example of this is OpenMRS: https://answers.openmrs.org/ We have a number of projects in the works to simplify the install process and improve the documentation located at: https://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/MIFOSX/Speed+up+the+Mifos+X+Installation+Process If upon following Keith's advice and continuing to attempt the install, you're still facing trouble, I'd also invite you to participate in our Mifos X pilot user program; as part of that program, you can get access to a free hosted instance of Mifos X in the cloud in exchange for providing hands-on feedback and beta testing of the software.
