1.4.2 is very old.  Try updating to the latest nightly build of 1.4 or 
(better) 2.0-gamma 
(https://micro-manager.org/wiki/Download_Micro-Manager_Latest_Release). 
Hopefully this bug was fixed since the 1.4.2 release in 2011.
