A short update on this: following  my post

, OME developers have already provided a  patch
<https://github.com/openmicroscopy/bioformats/pull/2213>  .
However, as far as I can tell from their code, they rely on the metadata.txt
file… I'm doing my best to get them use the internal tiff tag (which as far
as I understand contains the exact same JSON). Would be great if one of the
MM dev could comment on this issue (cf above link) to confirm/infirm.
