Hi Dan, It's good to know that this is a recent problem and it worked well before. On Wed, Aug 20, 2014 at 9:36 AM, D.L.C. What I have seen happen is Windows 7 updates can insidiously update drivers, so check your update history and verify that the Belkin hasn't been updated. If it has, uninstall the newer driver version in the Device Manager and click the checkbox to delete driver software. Then "scan for hardware changes" and it should pick up the previous driver (sometimes it the hardware won't reappear in the Device Manager till you restart Windows). If the Belkin driver update was indeed the problem, to prevent any driver changes you can also disable Microsoft server driver installation. When Windows says it's searching for drivers, it fetches them from the Microsoft server. This is separate from Windows updates and you should do this step even if you have Windows updates disabled. Turn off this driver updating behavior via the Start menu > (Type in the "Search programs and files" box) change dev > Change device installation settings > No, Let me choose what to do > Never install driver from Windows Update. If you don't want to stop all driver updates, you can also prevent a specific driver update- when you check for new updates and it shows the undesirable update, you can right-click on it and choose "Hide"; this should prevent that update from being installed in future. But if Microsoft adds a newer Belkin driver version, then this you will have to again black list it. IF you are not responsible for Windows updates or don't have control, you might want to use the previous option of disabling all driver updates. > Dan Pariksheet |
