Hi Dan, Thanks for the explanations. Updating Java on Windows shouldn't make a difference since the Micro-Manager installer maintains a local Java run-time copy. The BIOS settings were necessary for PCI/PCIe power savings. For your Dell E5510 laptop that may not matter unless your camera is connected using an onboard PCI/e adapter. If you need to get BIOS access, web searches indicate Dell support can help reset the BIOS (it's not clear is they re-flash it or reset the password) so contacting Dell may help with BIOS access. What all devices are you controlling with Micro-Manager? Is it just your QCam driven camera? What model of camera and interface bus does it use to communicate with the laptop?
