MeshLab Tutorial at VAST 2010

At VAST 2010 the 11th International Symposium on Virtual Reality, Archaeology and Cultural Heritage. (Louvre, Paris, 21-24 Sept. 2010) there will be a full day tutorial of MeshLab.

It will be held by Marco Callieri and Guido Ranzuglia and will cover almost everything of MeshLab, from basic navigation hint to advanced remeshing, measuring and processing tasks. Obviously with a bit of Cultural Heritage pepper here and there. ... read more

MeshLab v1.2.2 Released!

MeshLab is an open source, portable, and extensible system for the processing and editing of large unstructured 3D triangular meshes. The system is targeted at helping the processing of the large unstructured meshes that are common in 3D scanning. MeshLab providing a set of tools (more than 100 filters!) for editing, cleaning, healing, inspecting, rendering and converting this kind of meshes. Support for output in the compressed U3D format allows also the creation of PDF documents with embedded 3D objects using LaTeX. MeshLab v1.2.2 is mainly a stability improvement release but at the same introduces some totally new compelling features. A new importer to visualize PDB molecular files and a new adaptive Isometric parameterization filter have been introduced . The preview system has been largely improved and extended. The filters' parameter system has been rewritten from scratch to enhance MeshLab's functionalities and stability. More info and screenshots of the system are available at http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/ Release notes and bug fixes at: http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Release_Notes_1.2.2

MeshLab V.1.2.0 Released!

MeshLab is an open source, portable, and extensible system for the processing and editing of large unstructured 3D triangular meshes. The system is aimed to help the processing of the typical not-so-small soup of triangles that are common in 3D scanning. MeshLab providing a set of tools for editing, cleaning, healing, inspecting, rendering and converting this kind of meshes. Support for output in the compressed U3D format allows also the creation of PDF documents with embedded 3D objects using LaTeX.

MeshLab 1.2.0 is an impressive step forward! It presents more than 100 filters from from color processing, to pointset surface, to unsharp masking to automatic alignment. MeshLab V.1.2.0 is, also, a major bug fix release, with an overall improved robustness and better integration with the various os and better support of many file formats.

MeshLab V.1.1.1 Released!

MeshLab 1.1.0 introduced many important and appealing new features. The most notable improvements are the possibility of managing multiple meshes on different layers, and the new features for the processing of raw 3D scanning data. ICP alignment and Poisson based merging of multiple range maps is now possible within MeshLab. MeshLab V.1.1.1 is a major bug fix release, with an overall improved robustness and better integration with the various os and better support of many file formats.

MeshLab V1.0.0 Released!

MeshLab is a GPL portable and extendible system for the processing and interactive editing of unstructured 3D triangular meshes. The system is aimed to help the processing of the typical not-so-small meshes arising in 3D scanning, providing a set of tools for editing, cleaning, healing, simplifying, repairing, inspecting, rendering and converting this kind of meshes.

Meshlab supports many input/output 3D format and it is able to manage mesh composed by millions of triangles.

This release adds various new filtering tools and a powerful interactive painting system that allows to interactively change color of a mesh, to define selections and even to directly smooth out noise and small features.
