The movie Aliens from 1986, I have 3 different versions of it, theatrical, special edition, cocoon edition.... should these live in 3 different folders and if so, how do you scrape them especially since the cocoon edition is a buy of the shelf edition? Is there a switch I should use to have all 3 live in the same folder? Is that something MC supports or does this create all kinds of conflicts?
Just wondering how to handle this particular issue.

Neither IMDB nor TMDB support alternate versions of the same movie.
So, my personal suggestion is :
- to put them in 3 different folders (with a suffix at the end of the names
- to scrape them (eventually with the help of the "Change movie" tab if necessary).
- At that point, you will have 3 times the same NFO
- to manually edit the NFO files to add a suffix to the titles
- to refresh the cache from the NFO files

Basically you will need a nfo and artwork for each version of the same film.
Look in Movie Preferences -> Advanced tab
There are pre-set extension you can set to the end of your video title
eg
Mortdecai (2015) (1080p BluRay x265 HEVC 10bit AAC 5.1 Directors-Cut.mkv
or
Mortdecai (2015) (1080p BluRay x265 HEVC 10bit AAC 5.1Extended-Edition.mkv
These will scrape as individual movies, and keep these extensions on the end of the filename even if you use MC to Rename the movie.
They will be listed in MC with the extension Directors-Cut etc.
You can add your own extension to this list like Special-Edition.
It is recommended to hyphenate between words so MC can identify more clearly.
Cheers
