Sorry, for the repeated emails/noise.

There is in fact an option "closed=False" for not closing the path:

/class /matplotlib.collections.PolyCollection(/verts/, /sizes=None/, 
/closed=True/, /**kwargs/)

However, "closed=False" has no effect.
