Matplotlib is a python library for making publication quality plots using a syntax familiar to MATLAB users. Matplotlib uses numpy for numerics. Output formats include PDF, Postscript, SVG, and PNG, as well as screen display.

Very useful tool for those who are familiar with MATLAB. Note, this is a separate Python program that can plot figures without MATLAB installed. Wide set of output format including PDF & PNG. Great! P.S. site URL works as for today.
