It injects the contents of the preamble after the default font settings and before \begin{document}, see make_tex. I don't have lucidabr.sty on my system so I cant test it, but I think you should be able to set a string list in rcparams: all on one line: text.latex.preamble : \usepackage[T1]{fontenc},\usepackage{textcomp},\usepackage{lucidabr} You may need to clear your tex.cache as Jouni suggests.
