Hey Justin, Sorry, I recently switched to "Fagbuntu" and cannot get a working grub.efi to compile (figures). I am going to start installing gentoo again; however, you probably realize how long that takes. Once I have a working configuration again, I will try a couple of other kernel configuration options. Thanks Again. Brandon Koepke |

I hope this isn't a stupid answer, Sound for me was extremely quiet until I turned up "Front" and enabled "Speaker". This wasn't shown in alsamixer and I had to enable it specifically. (gnome-volume allows you to do this easily) Play around with the volume controls a little bit if this doesn't work. (Maybe your not changing Snd-hda-intel. Hmm, still doesn't work. I decided to just wait for my distributions kernel to reach 2.6.26 before I try anything else. (Takes too much time to compile a kernel and then all the custom modules like nvidia etc). Thanks. |

Thanks, I will give this a try. (Is your video card nvidia? I have repeatedly booted a Macbook Pro 3,1 in pure efi mode with very few problems. I used grub-efi and compiled it from latest svn using ./configure --with-platform=efi --target=x86_64. Without refit. The only big thing that does not work yet is the framebuffer, so right now I have no text output until the system is booted. I have tried using FB_EFI (which I had expected to not work because it is a GOP driver), imacfb, vesafb and uvesafb. Both vesafb and efifb display text, however I get three columns of text that is all very small print that is unreadable. Has anyone else experienced the same problem, or am I in uncharted territory because it is x86_64 and an nvidia graphics card? I also cannot use pommed because it uses bios calls to change the screen brightness. (Everything but brightness works fine, even applesmc). I also tried a kernel backlight driver, macbook_mbp.c however this was just ripped off from pommed anyways. Any word on this would be a great help. Brandon Koepke. |

Hi folks! I discovered that kismet doesn't supports ndiswrapper emulation (now I'm using my wireless network Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n with ndiswrapper emulation). Is there another way to able kismet to run correctly? Thanks! Pol |

EFI is searching for an efi executable. (this is what I usually do<below>) make make modules make modules_install make install then I make links i.g. ln -fs /home/kernel/2.6.27-rc1 linux cd / ln -fs /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.27-rc1 vmlinuz then update-grub reboot and see the fresh kernel. if you've already compiled you own kernel then ignore the above: the MMCONFIG option like I said up top, is in the main menu of make menuconfig. I think it says "PCI options" or soemthing like that. -- Justin P. Mattock |

Hi there, I am unable to boot the 2.6.26 Linux kernel on my MacBook2,1, for it crashes with the following message: PCI: Not using MMCONFIG PCI: Using configuration type 1 for base access For more info, see: - 2.6.26-rc9-git9 doesn't boot on Macintel http://kerneltrap.org/mailarchive/linux-kernel/2008/7/14/2456324 - macbook2,2 latest git mmconfig issues http://kerneltrap.org/mailarchive/linux-kernel/2008/7/19/2573484 Unfortunately, reading those threads didn't bring any satisfying solution. A friend of mine with the very same laptop faces the exact same problem, so I figured I was not alone there. Still, the problem doesn't seem to have been mentionned here. Has anyone come up with a fix, or be knowledgable enough to be able to sum up the situation? Thanks! -- mike dentifrice <fl...@po...> |

Hi everyone, I've googled this without finding anything... is there a way to use the RAID card (with SAS drives) under Debian Linux? Thanks Sylvain |

Just wanted to inform everyone that if have the same problem I did - appletouch going berserk after resuming from suspend it can be fixed by applying the "appletouch-new.patch". I noticed this problem when upgrading from vanilla 2.6.24.x to vanilla 2.6.26. In the older kernel no patch was required for appletouch to work correctly, even after resuming. Hope this helps someone. |

You can also edit the quirks outside of a kernel patch. Some people have encountered some trouble with this(such as with the new multitouch driver being developed), but it works for the most part. http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4984452&postcount=18 I couldn't tell if your problem exists after adding this or not, so my apologies if I am presenting information already tried. cyberdork33 wrote: > Yes, it is a patch against the Ubuntu kernel.
