I'm seeing the same on Ubuntu Gutsy for me the pb is with #define _LARGEFILE64_SOURCE in drivers/disk/include/blk_dmg.h it compiles without it and seems to work but I don't have compressed images. Didier |

To be honest, I don't see how including/not including stdio.h should make a difference either way, which is why I just removed it. Whatever is going on there is no way that including stdio.h prior to zlib.h should break anything (or be required for that matter). I've just had a brief look and as far as I can tell it works perfectly well with either _LARGEFILE64_SOURCE or _FILE_OFFSET_BITS set with both 1.2.3 and 1.2.3.3 (the latter is what's in Debian unstable but is a pre-release so most people are at 1.2.3). If there *are* problems with the zlib headers it would be best to work out what they are and try to resolve them prior to the next zlib release. The only thing I can think that might break is if blk_dmg.h tries to set one or the other of those defines after stdio.h has been included. Note that I've no idea what version of Mac on Linux Elimar was experiencing trouble with and have been entirely unable to reproduce the problem he is reporting. If someone could provide reproduction instructions or (better yet) a cut down test case I could have a look. Note also that the gzio API in zlib prior to 1.2.3.mumble prereleases doesn't cope with large files at all, though you don't seem to be using it so that shouldn't be an issue. --=20 "You grabbed my hand and we fell into it, like a daydream - or a fever." |

I had a feeling it might have been a bug. With using the precompiled MOL, I am running into another issue. At first I was able (still am) to boot to OS9 from the CD. The first time or two it had a hard time recognizing any hard drive devices so I stuck in a 40gb slave maxtor drive and did an unformatted partition as /dev/hdb2. So I went into my config file, put /dev/hdb2 in, and viola, booting into OS9 gave me a message that the hard drive had not been initialized. It saw it, initialized it, and installed OS 9.1. I then decided to toy around with OS 9.0.4 but this time even though the CD booted, it would not recognize any hard drive devices in OS9. I had not made any changes to the config file at this point. When that was giving me issues I tried to boot from the OS 9.1 cd again and this time didn't recognize the hard drive either with the disk utility program. To boot from cd, you need to pass the --cdboot flag with startmol in order to boot from the install disk. You will want to make sure that you have somewhere to install it (and include a blkdev entry in your molrc.macos). Also, you will want the blkdev entry for the CD-ROM to reflect the actually device reference (/dev/hd?) and not the mount-point. I hope that helps. -- Nathan Smith nda...@gm... Need a vacation? I wanted to post a followup that I did get OSX booting just fine with MOL. However OS9 discs still won't boot. When I insert the disc and run the startmol --cdboot command, for a brief moment the MOL logo appears and then everything goes to that light gray color, and hangs there. For a brief moment the cd drive light comes on indicating activity but it too stops. Ideas? ----- Original Message ---- From: Bradley Walker <mod...@ya...> To: mac...@li... I tried using the following two lines for devices: blkdev: /dev/hdc -cd blkdev: /media/os9 -rw #which I mounted from /dev/hda5 Now when I run startmol --cdboot I get the tan screen with the MOL logo (penguin hugging the apple) and it freezes there.
