Is there any possibility that MOL will be ported to Intel Macs? I had to go MacIntel when my PPC Mac Mini died; I like Fedora 8 on the Intel mini well enough, but I sure miss being able to run the occasional Mac app without re-booting! Is there anything that I am not aware of that makes this difficult? Like, Apple munging with the Intel MacOS to prevent its running on non-Apple hardware, that might make it difficult to boot from Linux? -jmw- Dr. John M. You might also try VueScan, a commercial third-party scanner software package. http://www.hamrick.com/vsm.html The company offers a version for "linux" but I suspect it's compiled for Intel processors, so I would suggest downloading the trial version for Mac OS X and see if it works for you in mol. (If it doesn't, of course you will also want to verify that it works when booted under "plain" OS X.) |

Hi, I have a 400MHz Pismo PowerBook with 756 MB RAM. I am running OpenSUSE 10.2 with a 2.6.20.2 kernel. I have an OS 9.2 partition. I just downloaded and installed from source mol 0.9.72.1. I ran molvconf= ig (as root) and changed only the following in /etc/mol/molrc.macos: ram_size: 128 and commented out # blkdev: /dev/hdb -rw # blkdev: /dev/sda -rw # blkdev: /dev/sdb -rw The following is the output I get when I run startmol: $ startmol Mac-on-Linux 0.9.73-SVN [Aug 2 2007 23:33] Copyright (C) 1997-2004 Samuel Rydh Starting MOL session 0 Running in PowerPC 750 mode, 128 MB RAM Timebase: 24.96 MHz, Bus: 99.86 MHz, Clock: 400 MHz Using USB mouse on /dev/input/mice OHCI USB controller registered Could not open '/var/local/mol/x11.kbd' Fullscreen video on VT 8. It starts off blank light gr= ey and after about 2 minutes the background colour changes to a slightly darker grey and that's it. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong? Obviosuly I won't add the export back. Having modules calling into page fault handlers is not exactly what we want, and not exporting it heps catching crap like that. |

It's kind of fundamental for MOL. MOL causes faults by executing a bogus instruction to setup the mmu for guest execution. The handler is used if the requested page is not present. Christoph, since you were the one that submitted the patch for removal, would you mind if we re-added the export for handle_mm_fault? Thanks, -Joe |
