Apologies if this has already been addressed, I searched forums but did not find it.
If I am in a Zoom call or in YouTube, whenever I launch Jamulus I no longer get audio from either of those programs. Have not tried audacity or others.
I was trying to show the Jamulus client screen to a zoom group but got locked out of the audio until I closed Jamulus client.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Thanks. I don't have a soundcard (I use a laptop), but I understand that
USB sound cards are available relatively inexpensively. Would that allow
me to avoid using Asio4All and thus avoid the lockup problem on Windows?
If so, then worth the investment.
If you buy a Soundcard that comes with a native ASIO-driver, you don't have to use ASIO4al anymore (which isn't a real ASIO-driver, just an emulation of a windows-audio driver) .
BUT!!! Your 'Lock-up' problem will persist!
As said before, the lock-up problem isn't due to Windows 10 or ASIO4all, it's Jamulus claiming de audiodriver for itself.

And with a sound card with a native ASIO driver you will have much better delay times. A big advantage for itself.
But as Luuk said, Jamulus will still lock out other programs.
(I think there is a reason for this. Given that Jamulus strives for the absolute minimum latency to enable real-time playing together it has no time to play around with protocols to share the data with others. Most other programs don't give a hoot if it takes a half a second longer as long as no data gets lost.)

I have used Jamulus and Zoom together under Win10 starting first Jamulus and using Jamulus for the audio. Then starting Zoom using it only for the video.
As I understand it under Win10 the first program using audio started locks the audio for itself and others can not use audio.

Under Windows, some applications can share ASIO-drivers others can't, Jamulus can't.
You can overcome it with a program like Voicemeeter, but you wil suffer from more latency.

Hi - are you on Windows using ASIO4all? If so, I believe this may be a side-effect of the way the driver works.
Thanks. Yes, sorry, forgot to mention my environment. Win10, Asio4All.
Is there a workaround?

Suggestion ... Use a separate device with video capability, like a tablet or old mobile device running Zoom. Point it at the screen.
I have used Jamulus and Zoom together under Win10 starting first Jamulus and using Jamulus for the audio. Then starting Zoom using it only for the video.
