I want to share with you a method that we have been using to keep our ad-hoc Jamulus sessions moving along.
For most players, these sessions work best when song sheets can be shared in real-time. Existing applications require all the players to install an application on their PC or tablets. 305keepers is a Web application that I built to allow a band leader to push song sheets to online musicians in real time using standard WEB broswers.
In the current implementation, song sheets are stored as single page pdfs in a filesystem arranged by artist and/or genre. The Jam Leader points their browser to the Jam Leader’s page and can browse and select the next song to be played.
Players point their browser to the Jammers page where they can browse the song list and song sheets. In addition, the song selected by the Jam Leader is also displayed as a link which can be manually selected to appear on the current page, on a new page or on a new tab. The Jam Member can also choose to allow the current song to automatically display on the current page.
The first implementation is on an AWS Lighthouse/Lamp server where installation requires little more than uploading a few files. Your server and song sheet repository are independent of all others.
I posted the source at https://github.com/keepers305/Song-Sheet-Sharing-Web-Pages for anyone who wants to create their own “Keepers” server and repository.
I am going to put a link on the 305keepers page to the update. You will find
a zip file at the site address. This one allows spaces in the directory
names and has some install instructions.
