This is something we might want to add for a later version. Voice Mail DV4 makes a copy of each of your voice mail messages and delivers them directly to your E-mail inbox as a .wav file attachment. Play your voice messages on any PC or laptop with a sound card-no client software is required. When you're done with the message, just reply to the VeMail message and DV4 will automatically remove it from your voice mailbox! -Matt |

get current greeting from the database seperated play_greeting from record_message Removed transfer to operator in favor of a single transfer subroutine Took our constants operator_button and extension_button, weren't working for some reason -Stopping work on record_call and starting on main.pl We need to get this stuff in the CVS on Tuesday. That should be the first thing we do. -Matt |

Ben, I can not get the ctserver to respond to a "0" properly. If you change 1 or 2 in playrec to a 0 you can duplicte behaviour. ($ctport->event eq "0") is never true. I have tried to call from three different phones and a cel phone with no luck. Aloha, Matt |

Our prompts and messages are in the /var/spool/lvm/ directory, and the scripts in /usr/local/lvm/. When useing the play command we have to reference them with "../../../var/spool/lvm/..........." We can not enter the direct path to the voice file. This is difficult because our scripts are in different levels of the directory so we can not have a global "prompt path" variable. Can you please confirm this. Aloha, Matt |

Vince we have decided to have the greetings, prompts etc is the /var/spool/lvm/ directory and the scripts in /usr/local/lvm. I have ordered a 1GB flash card and an IDE to Flash card adapter. It should be transparant from the OS and hardware. How much space do you estimate the OS and supporting programs (apache, mySQL, sendmail, php, etc) will take? It seems possible to shave it to < 300MB with a server type Debian install. We could maybe even have flash card for OS, programming, and greetings and a hard drive for the messages. Aloha, Matt |

I am still looking at this http://soekris.com/net4801.htm for a platform. I don't know if the Voicetronix card is 3.3 Volts. They say they have a dual PCI card coming. I am asking what "low power" PCI card is. Aloha, Matt |

Ben, Just wanted to make sure you knew what we considered issues in the current beta 14. 1.DTMF is recorded on the end of recordings that are stopped by DMTF 2-A.The reset port command does not work 2-B. the port blocks on wait_for_ring (probably true for all such wait_for()) functions. Port is not unblocked if server dies. Port is not unblocked by resetport. 3.When I side-ported the watchdog code from voicetronix's beta 14 tree into my tree, the server stopped functioning altogether. Unknown if a) I hand-patched incorrectly, b) the watchdog code was unfinished or incomplete as released c) watchdog code was broken altogether. Most likely some combination of the three. Aloha, Matt |

This is from Ben ******* There is no guarantee that they will work, and you can use it at your own risk. Otherwise it seems to be working reasonable well. Feel free to send in patches or ask for features. Depending on my time line, will depend on whether or not it makes it in! I must say that I am near the end of the development cycle, and with any luck I might make a full release within a week. ******* Let's make a list of what we think is broken in CTserver. I will send it to Voicetronix to make sure it gets addressed. Here is what I know is broken DTMF is recorded on the end of recordings that are stopped by DMTF The reset port command does not work -Matt |

This looks like it might be a good solution for the very small voiecmail situations. It only has one slot - 4-6 ports but the price is right. http://www.soekris.com/ -Matt |

This is the code I wrote to identify unique memebers of a hash. Hash one could be the messages in email and hash2 the messages in the voicemail. We want to know the unique ones so we can delete them. ******************************** #!/usr/bin/perl -w use strict; my %hash1 = ( field1 => "1", field2 => "32", field3 => "4", field4 => "5", field5 => "434", field6 => "43" ); my %hash2 = ( field1 => "1", field2 => "2", field3 => "3", field4 => "4" ); for (keys %hash1) { my $nomatch = 'true'; my $val1 = $hash1{$_}; for (keys %hash2) { my $val2 = $hash2{$_}; if ($val1 eq $val2) { $nomatch = 'false'; } } if ($nomatch eq 'true') { print "$val1 is unique from hash2\n"; } } print "\n"; for (keys %hash2) { my $nomatch = 'true'; my $val1 = $hash2{$_}; for (keys %hash1) { my $val2 = $hash1{$_}; if ($val1 eq $val2) { $nomatch = 'false'; } } if ($nomatch eq 'true') { print "$val1 is unique from hash1\n"; } } -Matt |

Aloha, I'm curious how everyone records their prompts. I am using a Windows box and USB headset with good success. When I convert them to the 8KHz format they really degrade. Is there a nix program to take the 44KHz file and convert it to 8KHz? -Matt |

There is a known (by me) buglet that shows up in the log. I currently suspect that a temp variable isn't completely erased or something ... To see the problem, do a tail -f on the logfile and then telnet to the management port. Type "cmd=serversion dst=-2 src=-2" and enter. Hit enter another half dozen times and see how the chopped up "md=serversion" gets shorter and shorter. something weird is happening to me and my port (1201), i ran the playrec fine, then i ran my own program and it crashed (my error, not the servers). now when i call i keep getting forwarded to matt's mailbox even when i run a program that connects successfully to my port. i tried playrec.pl, waitforringtest.pl,etc. i tried adding the $ctport->on_hook() call in there to see if would hang up the line or something.... is it possible that if a program crashes without issuing the on_hook() command that the phone line doesn't get hung up? anyhow, let me know what u guys think.... in the meantime, i was wondering if u guys had some kind of script that u are using to restart the ctserver and where the logs are going etc... it looks like /var/log/voicemail/ but then none of the logs seem to be growing.... k > > On Friday, Jul 18, 2003, at 16:15 Pacific/Ho/var/log/voicemail/nolulu, Matthew J.
