All linux-ruby versions use partialy correct tty_open() function. 2.6.XX uses more correct, 2.4.XX less correct. 2.6.XX cannot correct handle additional console subsystem like serial console, but works correct only with standard vt-handler. 2.4.XX-ruby uses simpler tty_open(). I can't find where in Bruby that is supposed to
happen. So I changed gpm to paste to tty<x> instead of
to tty0 (this is in gpm-1.19.6 the Debian version:

Hi all, I am currently using a four monitor setup on RH9 with 2.6.7 ruby kernel. I wan't to test it on fedora core3. I tried the setup with Xorg but unsuccessful. I think i have to use some patched version of Xorg. So where can i get the patched version of Xorg?. I am familiar with PrefbusID patched Xfree86, So i prefers such a patched Xorg server. Hi, Gpm, the vc mouse daemon, does copy/paste with the mouse. You can select anything and then in any vc paste that. But in bruby-2.4.29 you can copy from any vc but gpm pastes ALWAYS into the first vc, never into the others. Gpm pasts with ioctl to tty0, defined in the kernel docs as the "current vc". So bruby-2.4.29 does not switch vc's right. I got around this with my ill-fated netled by writing to tty1-6, but gpm is not that simpleminded. Ruby.vz9×1 does it right. I haven't tried the patch to that yet. Hugo __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - Helps protect you from nasty viruses. http://promotions.yahoo.com/new_mail |

Hi! I thought I posted problems with bruby 2.4.29 (and previous) and consolechars (Ruby does it right): Boot sequence is set consolechars, start gdm. But the console does not have the right characters. If one then sets them again, stops gdm and restarts, they are set right. Who knows why that works... Hi! So I have a TNT2 AGP(primary) and MX-440 PCI(secondary), running nVidia 6111. With that setup I find that with the latest 2.4.29 bruby patches and with the latest 6.2.9 ruby patches there is still a lot of keyboard noise in a vc on the primary monitor. I spend my time on a vc, not on X. So much so that with the latest pc speaker "bell" patches in 2.4.29 I fled back to 2.6.9 because there would suddenly be muliple "beeps" without ceasing, that I had no idea of how to stop. Attempt to rmmod pcspkr would cause an oops and hang the vc. In 2.6.9 the keyboard will suddenly type uppercase, etc. Hugo __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
