That sounds like your disk is broken.

Yes, your disk is indeed broken. The only way to recover data is to give
it to a data recovery company. You could try to recover at least some
files yourself but I am not aware of any software that will do it for you.
I am afraid I do not have enough time to walk you through it (unless you
are willing to pay for my time... (-;).

ntfschk would not help you in the slightest as your disk is broken or at
least has bad sectors in important places but considering your bios
doesn't even see it, it is more likely to be more complicated than just a
few broken sectors.
I would suggest to download and run the Drive Fitness Test from IBM
website and check your disk with it. It will tell you what is wrong with
it.
Anyway, you have backups, right? Just get a new disk and recover them...
