I've not experiences this problem here, and I've switched between native 
and libusb-win32 drivers numerous times.

I was using the standard USB driver that came from the mfgr of the device
I'm talking to.
Then I installed libusbw32 so I could write some code to talk to it. Now
when I want to install the original mfgr driver, XP will only let me install
the libusb driver.
It keeps prompting me to point it to libusb0.sys.

Why is this driver so persistant? ;-)

Do other people have problems like this?

Whether you install libusb-win32 as a filter or as I normal device driver
doesn't make any difference. You always install the driver (kernel space)
and the dll (user space). The code you write, your application, will opera=
te=20
in user space. You don't have to write an kernel code, libusb-win32 does
all the dirty work for you.=20

But I think you can also write a special driver if you're developing a USB 
device. I don't know weather this run in a "kernel mode".

[Libusb-win32-devel] Error in usb_submit_async

Hello,

I had a strange behaviour with usblib (libusb-win32-filter-bin-20060518). On my
development system evrything was fine, on another system (without MSDEV ...) a
call to usb_bulk_write(...) >>mostly<< failed.

I logged a error with usb_strerror() and got:
usblib ec:-22
usb_submit_async: submitting request failed, win error: Falscher Parameter

I first thought of dll-Hell due to MSDEV, but a update to
libusb-win32-filter-bin-20060827 fixed the problem :-)

Just for my curiosity ... what was the reason? "Falscher Parameter" sounds to me
like a interface problem.

I did get the filter to work in Vista 32. As I was using my own program
to install it, I had not got all the registry entries added correctly.
XP was more forgiving but Vista required all the entries. 
 
At least I can confirm someone is using the filter driver functionality!
Please can it be left in there, thanks!

I have tested and it does not seem to install, nothing is added to the
registry at all.
 
I am using for a project and must use the fiilter version as it is a
keyboard HID device.

Do you really need it to behave as a USB virtual disk?

Otherwise you're basically describing the ability to mount an image
file as if it were a block device. I think under Linux this would be
done using the loopback device. I don't know of a solution for windows.

solution.
sorry for asking, but maybe someone is aware of an existing solution for 
"mapping an image file to a virtual USB port so it's behaving like a virtual 
mass storage device" ?

I copied the file into the file into the system32 directory. But how can 
I can use that libusb0.dll in my code because when i tried to add 
reference using libusb0.dll then is show me

"A reference to libusb0.dll could not be loaded. Please make sure that the file is accessible and that is a valid assembly or COM component.

Can you please tell me what i should do with that.

The DLL does not support COM, that's why regsvr32 fails. Just copy
the file to <windir>/system32.
