Thanks again, much appreciated. Will raise this issue there and see how 
it goes. Hopefully we'll be at least be able to unveil the mystery 
surrounding why beyond (presumably) 2.6.22 kernels, some MTP devices 
(read iriver Clix [1 & 2]) won't charge.
