when I run go-mtpfs (as sudo), a message is shown:

The device in question is Prestigio 5505 DUO, Android 4.4.2
If you need more info, plese ask.
Does unrecognized device has anything to do with not being able to run go-mtpfs as normal admin user?
I'm on Ubuntu 12.04.

yes, the usb id would need to be listed to be non-root accessible.
I have now added it to our id list for the next release.
