Haha, blasphemy forgiven. In truth I don't have any philosophical problem with the QR Code symbology itself. The fact that it's covered by at least one patent does leave a touch of sour in my mouth, but I could probably get past that since Denso Wave has chosen not to exercise its patent rights. And no offense to any QR-heads out there, but for some reason I always think of QR Code as a teenybooper's barcode. After seeing it on CSI, cereal boxes, and a bajillion mobile phone apps it takes on a somewhat fad-ish flavor for me. But you're probably right that it's gaining mindshare among westerners now, probably for those same reasons. Alternatively, when you look at a Data Matrix symbol ... *it looks like pure data*. No effort was made to "pretty them up" or anything of that nature. It's as if the designers said, "Here are your bits. Deal with it." For me, that establishes some powerful geek cred. Truth be told, I would love to support QR Code but there are just so many things left that I want to do with Data Matrix before I can justify further dividing my efforts. However, if the BigRoom.org megacorporation wants to contribute a couple hundred thousand to the cause I might be able to shift around some priorities. <g> Mike On Tue, Dec 8, 2009 at 5:39 PM, SMC <smc...@bi...<smc%2B...@bi...> > wrote: > QRcode support? > > I have no idea how much of the existing libdmtx code would apply to > decoding > QRCode barcodes, but since libdmtx seems to be the only active Free, Open > Source, Linux-native 2D barcode decoding project going on I figured I'd ask > about it here.
