The automatic replacement of '-' with 'x' for an en passant move, introduced in the previous release, screwed the game history, which made the history browser act faulty. This has been fixed. Michael Speck |

First, this release brings back the continue option, however, with a 100% score loss this time. Second, the order of levels of the Freakout set is saved when the game is interrupted. Apart from that there is a number of smaller bug fixes and enhancements: balls do not start with maximum speed, if the middle mouse button was pressed, while clearing the last brick of a level; the bonus floor uses the blue energy wall as graphic; when viewing the final stats of network game only SPACE is accepted to continue and the chaos bricks in the seventh level of N_Snapshots were replaced with normal bricks to improve gameplay. With this release, the list of games is sorted by the date of the last move. For section 'My Games' the oldest games come first, while a search result starts with the most recent games. Games, in which your opponent has not moved for more than two weeks, may now be deleted. If your opponent did move at least once, the game will be counted as won for you. Michael Speck |

The stalemate test is now complete: If a chessman may not move because it has to protect the king, this is now recognized. Further on, it is no longer required to manually replace the '-' with an 'x' if an en-passant move is performed. And for the fun of it, I added a small forum. Michael Speck |

Most important is the support of SDL_net in this release. This allows to play network games on non-Unices like Windows. Further on, the audio is now in stereo for a local game and partially stereo for a network game. When using the warp feature you will get the total score of all remaining bricks substracted as a penalty. (This is better than the fixed 5000 points if clearing a level completely.) <BR><BR> And as I managed to get MinGW to run (that wasn't easy I can tell you...), I built a win32 zip archive as well. Note, that the installer exe is still 2.4.1, so download the zip not the exe file! Michael Speck |

...and provides a bug fix: when the black player castled long and undid this move, its king became white. (thanks to Tim Miller) Michael Speck |

A saved game will be deleted after the game is over and it is no longer possible to quit using ESCAPE when the 'Game Over' message is displayed (this allowed restarting with one life over and over again). Further on, the number of bricks required to warp to the next level is computed against the initial number of bricks of a level. Previously it was computed against the current number of bricks, thus when you lost a ball, you had to clear the required percentage again. The test server 'petersdtp.net' is up and running again. It now provides some bots to test play, in case that you are the only one online. Since this release, these bots have been improved and their usage is documented in the network help. Michael Speck |

There are new releases of LBreakout2, LTris and LMarbles. Their installations now comply with the autoconf standard. Data is copied to $datadir/GAME instead of $datadir/games/GAME and the highscores/profiles are located in $localstatedir instead of hardcoded /var/lib/games. You should backup highscores, uninstall cleanly and re-install any of these games. Replace the new highscores (probably in /usr/local/var but may vary) with your backup , that's it. Further on, LBreakout2 2.5beta-7 fixes the crash in the editor (when testing a level) introduced by beta-6 and LTris 1.0.7 adds a range check for the starting level to prevent abnormally high scores. Animations are now built directly from the brick graphics and not from the screen, which makes them look right when the bricks have a non-rectangular form (like the fishes from 'Aquarium' or the containers from 'Cargo Raider'). As a help on how far one is advanced in a (local) levelset, the total number of levels is displayed along with the normal credits. For network gaming only alphanumerical usernames are now allowed and (a long time after fakehalo's exploit became known) the 'snprintf'-bug has been fixed. Michael Speck |

This release fixes a bug in the Undo (undoing DrawRefused allowed moving out of sequence) and a bug in the checkmate test (no check whether a chessman that could move to block a check, would expose the king to a discovered check). Further on, notes may now be made directly when viewing the chess board, which is way more comfortable and the rating system has been changed to Elo (different coefficient though), which takes the player strength's in account when computing the rating change. (instead of the hardcoded plus/minus 10) Michael Speck |

Lelldorin has submitted the fishy theme 'Aquarium'. You can find it in the LBreakout2 theme section. Michael Speck |

After a long time there is a new release with some minor gameplay enhancements. Most important is, that a game may now be continued, a long requested feature. This way you can battle through a complete set, even if you have not much time whenever you play. Second, pressing the middle mouse button (or a special key) will bring all balls to a high speed, which saves a lot of time and boredom if the level is nearly cleared and a ball has to go long ways from wall to wall. Third is, that completing a level by clearing all bricks will give 5000 points extra. This is meant as an incentive to clear a level although warp might be available already. Apart from that there are a number of smaller bugfixes. The version is still beta for networking is not stable enough yet. I wonder if someone could try to add networking for win32? It is restricted to one file common/net.c which requires some changes for win32 I guess. If someone with knowledge about windows networking and the ability to test this stuff had a look at this file, it would be great! How to compile in win32 is explained in the README. Michael Speck |

Rodney Caruana has created a new brilliant theme 'Technicolor Nostalgy', bringing back the colorful look of old-day games. Further on, two new action-packed levelsets have joined the ranks: Leo Gruijters has submitted 'Symmetry-MKII' and G has submitted 'Fatal Doomsday'. BTW, the beta server is up again: petersdtp.net:8000. Michael Speck |

Some code cleanups and a nice feature: you can make notes about your games, which are only visible to you. Such reminders are helpful to not forget your strategy when there are long pauses between moves. I have also integrated a small PGN viewer for simple PGN files. You may only view games without comments and variants with it. Michael Speck |

Home again, I built a clean package. One more change: the move that finishes a game cannot be undone. Otherwise you could easily tamper with the statistics. Michael Speck |

Yesterday evening I oversaw a small but nasty bug, which causes you to resign no matter which move you enter. I fixed but it will take some hours before I can do a clean release. So all I can offer for now is an alpha version that fixes the bug but does not correct the stats. I'll try to provide a script to automatically correct the stats later. At http://lgames.sf.net you can find a link to the alpha release. Michael Speck |

This release features a bunch of smaller improvements. The rating system is now better as losses are taken into account. The complex sectioning has been removed and replaced by a search function. The help has been updated and is now way cleaner and complete. The command '---' became 'resign' which is more appropiate and finished games are now always archived. While the OCC is meant for a small circle of friends, the guys from Just4Chess at http://trillianchess.homelinux.com try to derive a free, public OpenSource chess game from it. For this project they could need the help of beta testers, so if you don't have a PHP-ready web server but want to try out OCC, than this is your place to be! Michael Speck |

This release fixes a small but painful bug in the campaign: The program exited after finishing the first scenario instead of going to Warsaw. Thanks to Carlo for the fix! Michael Speck |

One and a half year later, there is finally a new LGeneral release. It features a lot of bugfixes and minor changes, which make LGeneral more stable and playable. The most important changes are the merge of engine and converter into one package and a full campaign. There is a lot more to say: please read the latest news item at http://lgames.sf.net Michael Speck |

This release features a small bugfix in the history browser which did not recognize a black pawn promotion on tile a1. More important however is the newly added undo function which allows to undo a move for 20 more minutes. Only one move may be undone. Please note, that a nescessary change in the file format will lead to two problems with games created before version 1.0.10: The castling check will not work, thus castling short will not forbid castling long after that. Results may vary, so play fair! DO NOT undo a move from 1.0.9 with 1.0.10 but only moves since 1.0.10! Again, results may vary. In both cases your game will propably be screwed up. This does not apply to games created in 1.0.10. Michael Speck |

A bunch of minor bugfixes and enhancements. The given URL has been changed to lgames.sf.net since lgames.org ran out some time ago. Before the unfair imbalance of the expert mode comes in, there is a fifty percent chance that it uses balanced properties. (If expert mode is off it is always balanced.) When a game in mode 'figures' is paused, tiles and lines will be no longer be created, which was a bug. And maybe most important: there is a new option 'Same Blocks For All' in 'Advanced' that gives all players in a multiplayer game the same blocks, thus now skill decides not good fitting blocks received by chance... this is ON by default. Michael Speck |

I have fixed a small bug in the checkmate detection: if two chessmen in a row threatened the king the test failed though the first chessman could be taken by some own chessman blocking the second one. Michael Speck |

Some minor bug fixes for the online chess club as well as a small improvement: Castling is now possible by clicking. The moves Ke1-c1, Ke1-g1, Ke8-c8 and Ke8-g8 are now valid and will be interpreted as castling. Michael Speck |
