Hello! tl;dr: Does anyone have an ISO (ideally) or modules.tgz from Bering 2.3.1? I'm a long-ago LEAF user. I have a firewall running LEAF Bering 2.3.1. (Yes, really.) It's connecting an Ethernet network to a Token Ring network. (Yes, really.) It's nowhere near the Internet: it's basically a simple router making devices on the TR network available to modern computers on the Ethernet network. It's not expected to protect anything. It's been doing its job for a long time now, but I need to replace a NIC. Unfortunately, I only have the files that make up the firewall, not any additional files — like an ISO of the 2.3.1 distribution, nor a modules.tgz file. That means I can't add a different module for a different NIC. Also unfortunately, it seems that files from before v4.0 have been removed from Sourceforge. So I can't download them, either. I'd rather not rebuild this thing: it's got a decently complex Shorewall 2.x configuration, which would be tough enough to migrate to a newer Bering version, let alone a non-Shorewall setup, plus other things that would need to be set up (DHCP server, for example). Besides, Token Ring support was removed from Linux somewhere in the 3.x kernel version range, which means I'd have to use something ancient anyway, so why not just stick with what already works? So I thought I'd ask: Does anyone have squirrelled away somewhere the full Bering 2.3.1 distribution? Or, at least the modules.tgz so that I can put a different NIC in there? Thank you very much for your help! Tim Massey |
