Hi Michael, I tried it with ENABLE2 and GND, but it still does not work. What keeps me wondering is that it worked without in the old version. Unfortunately I did not produce the psnnel connection myself. I bought it through ebay some years ago, so I don't know the connections. As I said in my first mail, I just know it worked with the old version. Thanks, Matthias lcd...@li... wrote: > Hi Matthias, > > >> Wire { >> RW 'AUTOFD' >> RS 'INIT' >> ENABLE 'STROBE' >> GPO 'GND' >> } > > > Looks like you're missing the ENABLE2 line... > > > HTH, Michael > |

Dear all, I got a big HD44780 display with 2 controllers. With the old 9.11.8 version of LCD4LINUX and the config Display HD44780 Port /dev/parport0 Size 40x4 Controllers 2 Delay 503 Wire.RW AUTOFD Wire.RS INIT Wire.ENABLE STROBE Wire.GPO GND it worked very well. Now I've tried to reactivate my display after a year and I can't get the two bottom lines to start. Line 1 and 2 work very well, but.... :-( Can someone please help and tell me which config I need to use for LCD4LINUX 0.10.0-RC1? I tried several versions including the following Display HD44780-40x4 { Driver 'HD44780' Model 'generic' Port '/dev/parport0' Bits '8' asc255bug 0 UseBusy 1 Controllers 2 Size '40x4' Size1 '20x2' Size2 '20x2' Wire { RW 'AUTOFD' RS 'INIT' ENABLE 'STROBE' GPO 'GND' } } Where is the difference between Version 9 and 10 in this point? Thanks, Matthias |

I'm sorry but there is currently no way to control the backlight by other plugins. There will be something like "timer events" in the future, this will solve your issue. bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

Hi, Is there anybody out there who has experiences with Lcd4linux and asterisk (http://www.asterisk.org/) or (www.asteriskathome.de <http://www.asteriskathome.de/> ). Are there any modules available for this great pbx? I want to use the lcd4linux programm and a SED1330 To Display the incoming calls, the numbers calling in, the status of the answering machines and the fax status. Thank you for any hints and comments. Greetings Thomas |

i has the LCD from tilofranz.net/lcdshop The Display has an ftdi232bm chip to communicate with USB and an S1D13305F for Display. USB VendorID=3D0x403 and ProductID=3D0xe588 I added to ftdio_sio.h and ftdi_sio.c the product ID and recompile the ftdi_sio kernel modul. Then i add : BUS=3D"usb", SYSFS{idProduct}=3D"e588", NAME=3D"lcd", SYMLINK=3D"usb/lcd"= , MODE=3D"0666" to my udev rules. Now when i connect the Display dmesg say: drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for FTDI USB Serial Device ftdi_sio 2-2:1.0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected drivers/usb/serial/ftdi_sio.c: Detected FT232BM usb 2-2: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB0 usbcore: registered new driver ftdi_sio drivers/usb/serial/ftdi_sio.c: v1.4.3:USB FTDI Serial Converters Driver and i has an dev in /dev/usb/lcd But how can i send some informations to Display? First i thought that serdisplib can help, but at this time there is no rs232 support. Then i asked the on the serdisplib mailinglist if there is any linux library for this display, but the answer was "Not now, maybe later". Dear LCD Experts, I've recently bought myself a Linksys NSLU2, which is a tiny cheap box with an ARM processor, ethernet port and two USB ports, running Linux. There are lots of geeky things that they can be used for (see http://nslu2-linux.org); mine is currently being a print server. Not having a display is a bit of a problem sometimes. For example it would be useful to display the print queue or any error messages. For this application, one of those drive-bay-size displays with up/down buttons would be good, especially if it had a self-contained enclosure and the software already existed. Has anyone done anything like this? Can you recommend any particular (cheap) display with a USB interface, available in the UK? I was also thinking of a more general-purpose solution - a compact keyboard with a built-in LCD display, maybe 4x40 characters or so. Ideally it would have a USB interface that appears like a serial terminal with VT100 emulation. I can imagine such a thing being useful for other situations too, for example maintaining rack-mount systems without the expense of one of those drawer-mounted LCD panels. The only thing that Google finds is a Logitech gamers' keyboard (the G15) which has an LCD to display scores on. It's not exactly what I had in mind. I'm sure some of you have thought about this sort of thing before - any suggestions? Cheers, --Phil. |

Hi Ludovic, > I can't compiling the lcd4linux with matrix orbital driver. I have this message > at the end : Thanks a lot for pointing this out. There's been a bug in drivers.m4 which did not compile and link the generic text driver for several displays. Fixed in CVS. If you do not want to use the CVS version, just omit the '--with-drivers=MatrixOrbital' parameter to 'configure', so the text driver will be included anyway. bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

I'm a little bit disappointed that he hasn't got a display, not even a small one :-) He's a geek baby, so he already set up his own homepage: http://home.pages.at/david05 I'm afraid he will eat up all my spare time in the next weeks, so there will be not too much time left for lcd4linux. bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

Hi Petri, >>Looks like something inside the USB initialization hangs. You could add >>a lot of debug statements to the code, to see where it stops. > I tried to track this down and put debug messages in the source. It dies in > line 458 in drv_USBLCD.c on sleep(3); This sound very strange to me. But I > did put debug messages before and after and only got the message before. Also > when commenting this line or running with -q works. And this happens only > when booted, not if I use this same init.d script afterwards. Strange... Why the heck should it hang on a sleep???? could you cut the sleep(3) into threee pieces of sleep(1), each followed by a debug statement? Sounds crazy, but this *is* crazy.... better ideas anyone? bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

Hi Erik, >>>Hi at all, im looking for driver to use my nokia3310 display (supported >>>at Windows programs), do you support this display?, thanks a lot. >> Have a look at the serdisplib page (http://serdisplib.sourceforge.net). >> If it's supported by serdisplib, it's supported by lcd4linux. > Ok, thanks, how driver will be used? I have no clue. I do have such a phone, but couldn't find the time to connect it yet. I think the docs on the serdisplib homepage are quite good. Try to get it running with serdisplib first (there's a test program IIRC). bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

Hi alltogether, I just talked to Sam (he hosts the wiki): The server has had a crash, but unfortunately Sam is too far away at the moment. He will be back on friday evening, so the wiki will be up and running again then. bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

I'm afraid bulix is the only source for information and documentation, and it's down since sunday. I hope that Sam will fix this as soon as possible (as he did in the past). Sorry for the inconvenience. bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

An exclamation mark in the layout is no problem. The compiler optimized "goodbye!" to one string for all drv_DISPLAY.c files. Recompiling with "Goodbye!" gave a two-line garbled display. Reconfiguring with "--with-drivers=HD44780" and "goodbye!" gave a two-line garbled display. Recompiling with "goodbye" gave a working display. Seems I need a parallel port snoop program to understand what is happening. > > bye, Michael > Thanks for responding, Johan |
