Hi Theo, > here is an picture from my Display using lcd4linux and libluise, not all > widget are configured at this moment Well, now that looks *really* cool! Maybe you can try to get a less blurred image and upload it to the "cool stuff" section of the lcd4linux wiki? How do you get these graphic effects? Do the come from libluise, or from your driver? If it's from your driver, we have to find a way to implement'em in the generic graphic driver, so that all graphic displays would benefit... bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

Hi, i write drv_LUIse.c for the USB LCD from www.wallbraun-electonics.de using his libluise. But now i dont know how do i check if libluise and luise.h are installed? I'm not shure if this works... could you please test the code? Ok guys, I just added a new 'drv_Sample.c' to the CVS repository (same as 'plugin_sample') and added two new pages to the Wiki: https://ssl.bulix.org/projects/lcd4linux/wiki/driver_howto https://ssl.bulix.org/projects/lcd4linux/wiki/plugin_howto I hope this is a good starting point for developers new to lcd4linux. Hi Theo, > i will write an driver for my lcd. Great! > So i read README.Drivers. At line 10, > i read: use Skeleton.c, but cant find Skeleton.c? Also on line 39, "edit > display.c"? Oh... looks like this README is *really* old :-) I can think of two solutions: - get README.Drivers up to date - remove README.Drivers I vote for the second one :-) I'm afraid there is no current readme. But I can help you. Writing a new driver should be quite easy, but adopting all the autoconf stuff is a bit tricky... First of all, you should use the CVS version. Otherwise it will be very hard for me to adopt your changes. If you need help with CVS, let me know. What kind of display is it? Have you got a data sheet? This way I can tell you which existing driver is most similar, and you could use it as a starting point (HD44780, as Martin suggested, is probably the most complex driver available, so it may be a bad idea to use it asa basis for a new driver) I could prepare the framework (including all the autoconf stuff) for you. bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

I hope that helps. Martin |

Hi Szymon, sorry for the long delay and for not answering your previous mails. As you may have noticed, I became father some weeks ago. And now my son and my real-life job takes up to 27 hours a day :-) > What about dropping the limitation of icons size ? All bars and defined > chars are limited in dimensions to: > > /* icons always are 8 pixels high */ > #define YRES 8 > > ... or am I using outdated code ? No, as long as you're using CVS, you should be up to date. I will remove this limitation. I would do it immediately, but as there's a new driver in process, the code isn't usable yet (it does not compile), so I cannot commit the changes at the moment. I hope i will finish it today. I'll let you know, and I'll appreciate if you could do some tests on it. Thanks, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

As its a kernel rather then a userspace program it does not get unloaded (particulary if you do not compile it as a module) meaning that you can write to the LCD at any point in the shutdown stage. From hereon you just modify your init shutdown script to echo whatever you want at which ever point (so you could have "Shutting down", "Stage 1 complete","Stage 2 complete"....etc... "Shutdown complete"). You can also use this is bootup to check if your interfaces came up etc... |

Hi, I am using an old PC as router for my home network. At the moment it is standing beside my desktop pc and I have a monitor atta= ched to it. Now I wanted to place the router some where elses and I also wanted to remo= ve the monitor from it. I thought a small LCD display would be great to display the status of the b= ox. Now my question is: Is it possible to display the "power off" message on a LCD? Or at what stag= e of the shut down is the driver unloaded, so that no further display is po= ssible? I would like to have a message on the LCD when it is safe to power off the = router, without destroying my installation. Dear Lcd4Linux people, This is a bit off-topic, but I thought some of you might be interested in this page http://chezphil.org/slugterm/ where I describe how I've connected a 4x20 LCD to my Linksys NSLU2. The NSLU2 (or Slug to its friends) is a tiny cheap box with Ethernet and USB interfaces with at least five different ways of running Linux on it. Mine is used mainly as a print server, and the LCD is to display the print queue. (I'm still lacking a good utility to stop/start print jobs, etc, and any suggestions would be welcome. It's running a "real" terminal emulation, not lcd4linux.) Cheers, --Phil. |

Hi, i have one of these 4x20 usb displays in my tower...it allso has the auxilary SCAB board. Right now all i do with it is control ATX-power on/off & reset via the keypad. I would like to control/operate this display for some basic system info while running linux. Is this possible with lcd4linux & 635? Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated. Thx & have a nice day. Andy. |

If you can, check which pins connect to the paralell port and adjust lcd4linux.conf file accordingly. Also, check in the 'version that works' which config file you were using. Luis Correia |
