LaTeX in Word has been migrated to Github:
Thanks to the awesome community at Github, a new version of the server that runs natively on Windows has been added!
After a bit of boxing with the new server's implementation of LaTeX, LiW is now back up and running! I apologize for the interruption. I have tested it and everything seems to be working nominally, but please let me know if you experience any issues and what you did that caused them. I will try to debug as quickly as possible.
I apologize for the interruption in LiW service these last several weeks. The server that runs the LaTeX commands was migrated to a new file system recently, and the implementation of LaTeX on this file system has been causing all kinds of issues. I am actively working to fix this problem, and hope to have LiW back up and running very soon.
If you are able to set up your own server, then the current version of LiW should continue to work for you. I will release an updated version that utilizes the /tmp directory for generating equation images and is maybe a little bit more robust to server architecture as soon as I get it to work on our server.... read more
If you use LaTeX in Word and have not set up your own server, you may notice an interruption in service while the server that we are hosted on is migrated to new hardware. As I work to get this back up and running, I will also be working on localization improvements such as support for Arabic and Persian numerals.
Thank you for your patience and for using LaTeX in Word.
Announcing this somewhat late, but version 0.3.1 of client-side files have been released, including updated instructions for Word 2010.
Updated handling of padding files to clean up the temporary folder more consistently.
Changed the macros to use POST requests to avoid the URL string length limitation of GET requests. Changed the error dialog font to monospace so reading LaTeX errors is easier. Created a Word 2007 package. Changed the default server (the old one is going off-line soon).
Server files now accept POST transactions to avoid the URL string length limitation of GET transactions. Retains backward compatibility with GET requests.
Minor revision to server files to handle PHP magic quotes.
Version 0.2.0 of the "Word 2003" release is now available. This includes some minor new features as described in the release notes.
Follow the directions in the "server installation" package's "readme.txt" file to create your own LaTeX in Word server. Casual users may wish to continue using the default server.
