Hi, I asked the KDE Usability list for some feedback. Here is the=20 first one, we should discuss this issues ! cu stonki =2D--------- Weitergeleitete Nachricht ---------- Subject: Re: Test of programs (krename) Date: Freitag, 7. Page a) In download section there are no immediate links to download sections in description. Have to go to the panel part. Irritating. b) In Features part features are in blue. Usually this color is reserved for links. Avoid using it - especially in lists it is confusing. 2. Program (Note, this is not always about usability, some may be "just" bugs) a) When opening first time advanced view I don't see whole main area and , had to resize window to see it all. Problem existed in File and Filename tabs. The same in some Command plugins (Permissions). Situation can be only worse with localizations... b) File tab in advanced view - Sort button: I don't see current choice. Is [ Sort ] Should be: Sort: [Ascending] or [Sort Ascending] c) File tab in adv. view - Preview of images: Should be aligned, all file names should begin in the same disctance from left side, plus small margin between images d) Order of 'main' buttons in advanced view - is: Cancel, Finish, Help. Should be: Help, Finish, Cancel. Hmm. Looks like a bug. In wizard mode order is OK. e) Filename tab - Functions... dialog doesn't use kstdguiitems for Add, Close buttons. F) WHAT I MOST HATE IN LINUX PROGRAMS - Directory doesn't exist. [OK] Make offer to create one! kdelibs thing? BTW. Isn't consensus 'real' directories are now known as folders? (wording in Destination tab) g) Progress - dialog: Close button isn't kstdguiitem, should be on the right side. And, hmm, how to say it... Program doesn't work ^_^. Ah. I see. In destination tab I specified dir as "~/st/ren", without / at the end and files were renamed to reffilename. Clear bug, it should be more tolerant for such things. Also when I choose Rename Unprocessed Files Again... it doesn't work. (with Processed Files it works) h) In plugins part should be short explanation: This plugin adds support for belowmentioned tokens to renaming (or similar). i) Undo actions/scripts should be made automatically, not as an extra option. j) OGG info plugin (and other music formats) - shouldn't it be standardized across KDE? All mmedia apps using renaming features should use the same format for renaming files if possible. k) Similar thing for image formats. Why not use/adjust ImageMagick format of comments? l) Is in wizard mode Plugins step necessary, for 99% of not Power Users wont use it and I understand all commands are available through Functions... m) In wizard mode should be Easy Mode... triggered by default? This is the most complicated part and not PU should be faced with Easy Mode immediately. n) Why Finish button in two modes has two icons? o) More tooltips like this for Easy Mode... are always welcome. m. ps.
