Hello, Dom :) Like the subject line says, I ALMOST got an RPM of Krename 2.9.4 that I am satisfied with. I won't get in to detail right now, but I did the following: 1. I now have a separate user account that I log into just to make RPM's for Krename. For some reason, I don't have issues with the other applications that I make RPM's for (only for my own use) This account will always only have the most recent stable version of KDE and QT that is available for installation with RPM's. 2. For my main account, I have KDE compiled from the CVS, and QT from TrollTech's source tarball. This is my main account, because I don't like what Red Hat/Fedora has done to KDE :( The only problem is this (actually, it's not too suprising): The RPM for Krename 2.9.4 that I made successfully, installs perfectly under both KDE 3.1.4 and KDE from CVS HEAD. It runs perfectly on both KDE 3.1.4 and KDE from CVS HEAD. The problem is this: I use the same window style in both version of KDE that I am running, but under KDE from CVS, my RPM won't let Krename respect the fact that I use the Keramik window style under KDE from CVS. Like I said, I'm not completely shocked. But this should't be an issue with someone who is using an official stable release of KDE. Of course, the Krename "Help" menu says this under "About KRename": KRename 2.9.4 (Using KDE 3.1.4-4 Red Hat), which, of course, is not the version of KDE that I am running. Like I said, the RPM should work with all stable versions of KDE 3.* Just to be sure, I'm going to upgrade my stable installation of KDE to 3.2.2 in a few minutes, try the 3.1.4 RPM to see how that works, and then build a new RPM under 3.2.2, just to see how that one behaves. I'll let you know as soon as I find out anything :) Steven P. Ulrick |
