Hmm, you are right. I will try to release version 2.8.5, containing a fix, 
soon.

The directory selection dialog is provided by KDE and does not support this 
behaviour by default (contrary to the file dialog which supports this 
feature). I am not sure if I can modify the dir selction dialog to support 
SHIFT and CTRL for file selction. Perhaps I have also to implement my own 
directory dialog. I will have to see what is possible.
