Well, a slight blemish in my sterling reputation has been brought to my
attention (by myself, of course)
I ended up deleting my "/home/steve/.kde" directory and restarting
Krename 2.8.2.  After I did that, it worked perfectly again :)
I did discover something strange BEFORE I deleted "/home/steve/.kde": if
I installed Krename 2.8.1 (from my RPM), I had the same problem.  If I
installed Krename 2.7.3 or 2.8.0, I had no problem.  To sum up: AFTER I
deleted my entire KDE configuration directory, all versions of Krename
worked perfectly as relating to the subject of my initial email on this
subject.  BEFORE I deleted my entire KDE configuration directory,
Krename 2.7.3 and 2.8.0 worked perfectly, but Krename 2.8.1 and 2.8.2
had the issue with not being able to horizontally resize the excessivley
large windows.
