A strange bug, which you found again :-).
Removin the krenamerc file has no effect, because dialog sizes are handled and 
saved by KDE and are no in the krename config file. 
I hope this problem will go away from you if you once resize the dialog to a 
normal size, which is afterwards restored when you open the dialog next. 
As you said already, resizing did not work for you. Maybe you can resize the 
dialog if you press the ALT key and the right mouse button on the dialog. 
When you move your mouse now, the dialog should be resized.

As KRename does not handle the dialog sizes itself I cannot give you a quick 
fix in the KRename source :-(.
