Hi,
I have a set of 2500 transactions in CSV. How can I import those data with all information including :
- Deposit/Transfer/Withdrawal (Transfer are easy to identify from the counterpart)
- Categories (usually easy to match from the Counterpart of the payment)
I also need an export of the categories to be able to assign them to the Deposit / Withdrwal. This seems possible to get them by exporting the Account template or the QIF.
All the transactions I want to import only have 2 legs (D/C), but it would be nice to also be able to support more legs.
I did had a look at the following solutions :
- CSV : seemed buggy in 4.6.1, to I compiled 4.6.3, but it seems very limited, and do now allow to provide the category.
- OFX : too much complicated, and no example on how to use it with KMyMoney, to provide details such as Category, Payee, Contacts details, ...
- QIF : It's the only format we can export to, so we have samples. Up to now it seems it can be a solution for me.
- MySQL : I also tried the MySQL Backend, and it seems one of the best option, as the DB structure seems clear, and close to a professional accounting system. Too bad that KMyMoney is not fully integrated with MySQL in real time & multi user mode... It would really bring KMyMoney into SME I think.
Conclusions :
- I'm not (yet) fan of the MySQL option, mainly because it seems that KMyMoney do not take benefit of a network & multiuser RDBMS. Anyway, PostgreSQL would definitely a better choice for the future of KMyMoney in enterprise.
- QIF : Seems the only remaining choice, not explicitely documented, but self documented with the exports...
Did I miss something? Is there a better way to interface with KMyMoney? Is there some documentations from KMyMoney, ideally with some screenshots, and the file format that should be used to enter the transaction in an automated way?
Thanks,
