初めまして。金子奈津といいます。
以前どこかの掲示板に書き込みしてるのを読ませていただきました。
その時にこの方は口が堅い男性だと感じて、アドレスを控えていました。

kmatplot is dead since ~ 2 years (no further activity, developer vanished...)

you may try qmatplot which is a fork for qt only

I've trouble compiling kmatplot 0.4 on SuSE 9.1 with KDE 3.3. configure 
returns an error:

checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 2.2.2) (libraries) not found. 
Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log.

(QTDIR set to /usr/lib/qt3)

Anybody any idea?

I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I

questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to
complete it.

With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the
motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage
in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that
a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms.
This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved
individuals and the conditions of production of these two development
models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of

Dear Kleindienst,

=09I installed it from rpm. It didn't come to menu entry. Typing 'kmatplo=
t' in=20
konsole gave an output like: "bash: kmatplot: command not found."
I downloaded 'kmatplot-0.1.tar.gz' and tried to compile and install it=20
following the instruction given, after removing the older one . While=20
compiling the following error message was given at the end of the output =
in=20
konsole:
 "checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>=3D Qt 2.2.2) (headers and  =20
libraries) not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log."

What is the meaning of this message? And what to do ?

Hi Thomas and Jeff,

qmatplot can be found at http://www.sf.net/projects/qmatplot/

knewplot's screenshots look interesting. It's a new project and rather 
small: ~7500 lines of code whereas qmatplot has ~75000.

New features for qmatplot could be:

* import/export filters (by far most important)

* easier interface
* fine-tuning of graphs
* curve fitting

Hello Jeffrey,

qmatplot is meant as a release that updates the code of qmatplot to the 
new gcc and qt versions. There are no additional features.

Version 0.4 of kmatplot does not compile out of the box and this will 
put many people off. Kmatplot contains many nice graphing widgets and it 
would be a shame to abandon the project. The idea behind qmatplot is 
that keeping qmatplot compilable, might attract new developers and keep 
existing users happy.

There are many things that can be improved in qmatplot. However I do not 
have the time to add many big features. Therefore, I accept patches and 
bugreports. If the bugs aren't too fundamental, I'll try to fix them.

Here are my ideas/wishes but it reveals oneself to be hard to do:

I think that one of the most important think to realize in a near future is to 
improve the connection between qmatplot and external programs like octave or 
python. 

For instance, in octave, the equivalent of all the display functions (mesh, 
contour, image, imagesc, plot3d, ...) would have to be implemented in a handy 
way with qmatplot. 

kaddaxes is also annoying to use at each time you decide to create a new 
graphic. 

In addition, it would be pleasant to have the control of several figures (like 
in matlab) and not just one.

The control of the object properties would be also a good thing.

If you have any patches that improve kmatplot/qmatplot, that you would 
like to see applied, please e-mail them to me. I will try to make sure 
that small bugs and features can be added to the existing codebase.

Release Name: 0.4.1

Notes:
The kmatplot project by Kamil Dobkowski has been inactive for a year. 
The project shows great promise, but cannot be compiled with the newest 
versions of the packages on which it depends. This release is a fork of 
the unmaintained kmatplot project named qmatplot.

The way the autotool scritps were adapted is described at
http://www.vandenoever.info/software/KDEautomakemanual.html


Changes:
- updated the kde autotool scripts
- adapted the Makefile.am and configure.in.in scripts
- minor tweaks to the code to enable compilation with the newest gcc
- change kmatplot to qmatplot everywhere
- remove few remaining KDE dependencies

[Kmatplot-general] Contour with kmatplot

I am trying to use kmatplot to draw non-filled contour with differents
colors or line styles. Could help me how to do that with kmatplot?
I try yo use QSGraphicalData::setLine (int e, const QSGLine &line) but I

do not understand the exact meaning of the int element e.

[Kmatplot-general] Kmatplot for me...

I'm brand new to kmatplot, it looks great so far I just don't know if it
can do what I need?  I'm just trying to build a 3d graph of a lot of
data.  I already have the data in text csv format but I can't find any
way to import the data into kmatplot to graph it.

Am I missing something?!?!  Or did I try the wrong tool?

kde 3.1.  I'm not very knowledgeable about programing and compiling so if
