You can redirect make's output to a log file (assuming you use bash) make &> make.log that might give you a chance what might have gone wrong. Please see the kgi-develop mailing list for a patch that corrects a mistaken 'static' definition in one of the files. Maybe somebody has seen this before. I am following the instructions seen in the README.install. I do a .configure in the KGI folder and then I descend into the Linux folder, I do a 'make all' and the make runs fine for several hours(slow machine) and then I it looks like there aren't any errors but once it's over there isn't a kernel anywhere. If I create a kernel in the /usr/src/linux folder and do make, the kernel compiles fine(of course this is without any kgi support). Any ideas? I am just doing what's in the README.install. still not working. I have a goal, to test my graphics cards for 3D rendering and 2D rendering under Unix/Linux or whatever else.(for class projects) Up to this point nothing has interested me except KGI/GGI. I can't use Xfree X windows because I have some very small harddrives(wont fit). Here is where I am confused, what do I need in order to test the capabilities of my video card(Permedia 2)? What do I need to draw one pixel with the support of my graphics card. Will just KGI suffice or do I need GGI and GII. And if I need these do I need the Phoenix X server? Also, I am having trouble compiling the bugger(KGI), I have decided to create a user but I cant compile anything because I get a lot of permission denied calls and then Make fails. Is there anyway to set his permissions higher so he access the files I need. Or should I just use root. There is some work in the console code going on, and I don't want to spend my rare development time adjusting to the latest and greatest pre-2.4 release. I therefore decided to port kgi-0.9 over to linux-2.4 as soon as linux-2.4.0 is officially released. Bottom line thus: Please use a 2.2 kernel if you want to test/play with KGI. 2) If you have used the KGI tar-ball to get the source code then the tools/ directory must be included, otherwise I did something wrong. If you have used the CVS checkout, please see http://kgi.sourceforge.net/developers/resources for instructions how to get a working tree. Basically, you need to checkout the kgi-0.9 module and the tools module: export CVSROOT=:pserver:ano...@cv...:/cvsroot/kgi cvs -z3 co kgi-0.9 cd kgi-0.9 cvs -z3 co tools 3) You are right, CVS access isn't mentioned in README.install. I will correct this. Thanks for trying, Steffen _______________________________________________________________________________ Steffen Seeger mailto:se...@ph... Hi, I have some difficulties with the compilation of kgi. I copied my 2.4.0-test5 to kgi-0.9/kgi/Linux (do 2.4.0 kernels work?) but when I try to run ./configure in ~/kgi-0.9 I get: Tools directory not found. Please refer to README.install for details. I read it but nothing about "Tools". Hmmm.. It is yesterdays cvsroot I use. I'm thankfull for every help.
