No

Please change the main gui in the two ways:

  • make the kdbx path selectable with mouse so you can copy the path to clipboard
  • when you click the browse folder icon, make the default folder open where the last/default kdbx file is stored

    Make the kdbx path selectable…

    Currently text on KeePass dialogs and window elements is not selectable. However you can open recently used databases using the KeePass File>Open Recent… menu. The length of this menu is configurable in Tools>Options…>Interface(2) [tab]>Advanced [section].

    when you click the browse folder icon, make the default folder open where the last/default kdbx file is stored

    Currently KeePass opens the browse files window to the last folder a database was opened from or saved to. To copy the full file path of any database file shown in a File>Open File… or Open Database (Ctrl+O) browser window, or in Windows File Explorer, right-click on desired database file and select copy as path from the context menu. According to CoPilot this context menu item has been in Windows File Explorer since Windows Vista.

    No. You dont understand the issue.

    It would be helpful, to have an easy way to have the path to the kdbx file be able to copy to clipboard.

    • either make the path a selectable text you can select with mouse and copy it
    • or make the file open window be in the same directory
    • or give some copy to clipboad button

    I am speaking about the default open window I attached. There need to be a quick way to get the path to the kdbx file copied to clipboard or opened in file explores so you can copy the file. It is annoying to have no way to get to the file easily from this window.

    The dialog you posted is the "Enter Master Key" dialog. It is not an "Open Database" dialog. This is a real distinction. At this point in the workflow the database to be opened is already selected. The only options available in the dialog are for defining the database Master Key components for the selected database, or to cancel opening the selected database.

    Adding a Change Database button (or similar functionality) into this workflow would introduce a divergent and confusing branch point. See comments below about copying the path of the selected database and selecting a different database to open.

    It would be helpful, to have an easy way to have the path to the kdbx file be able to copy to clipboard.

    Why is it helpful to have the selected database path during the "Enter Master Key" workflow?

    KeePass will already probably use that folder path in any subsequent open database attempt. Describe the workflow you envision and how it is superior to the workflows below that KeePass already implements.

    The workflow to select a different database from the "Enter Master Key" dialog begins by pressing the Cancel button. This will open KeePass without a database. From there select the database that you want to open using whatever method is most convenient. File>Open Recent…, or File>Open File… or Open Database (Ctrl+O) button start some useful open database workflows, but they are not the only workflows possible.

    I am not sure why you give me that information? I am not asking for help this is a feature requst. I want to be able to copy the path to the kdbx file from the default open dialog when you open KeePass and have already saved a kdbx file. The "Enter Master Key" is the default open dialog when you have saved a kdbx file. Change the path text to be selectable via mouse.

    LIKE I SAID:

    • make the kdbx path text in the enter master key gui selectable with mouse so you can copy the path to clipboard

    • OR/AND when you click the browse folder icon, make the default folder open where the last/default kdbx file is stored, so you can copy the path in there

    "Why is it helpful to have the selected database path during the "Enter Master Key" workflow?"

    WHY!? Because the enter master key window is the first gui you get when openeing KeePass and a kdbx file is stored. It is obvious you want from here have the possibility to copy the path for whatever reason. It is super annoying to find the kdbx path if you dont know where the file is stored, and you have to manually go there. Changing from the enter master key to another window is no option and more annoying.

    None of the information you gave is true or helpful.

    "Currently KeePass opens the browse files window to the last folder a database was opened from or saved to."

    wrong. If you click the folder icon you land in the documents folder, my kdbx file is not stored there. so this is a bug? then it needs to get fixed.

    " File>Open Recent…, or File>Open File…"

    wrong. It just openes the file. I want the PATH COPIED TO CLIPBOARD, so I can open it in Explorer and copy the kdbx file to some other location.

    I would create an entry called "Database Path" and enter the following in the URL field.
    file://{DB_DIR}
    Alternatively
    cmd://explorer {DB_DIR}

    When you click the URL, Explorer will open in the database directory.

    cheers, Paul
