Hi All,

I love KeePass, but I have a daily annoyance with it that I'd love to bypass.

The problem:
When I open KeePass, it's almost always to search for a specific entry. So, I load the program and start typing into the search bar. When there's an update available, this process is interrupted, once per day, by a box that I have to click on.
Once I've been distracted from my intended use, I need to use my 'attention units' to respond to the interruption, then hope that I remember what I was doing in the first place.
I want to have update notifications!
I don't want my intended course of action to be interrupted by a 'nag screen' about them.
For those of us who use even a small amount of plugins, these can be quite regular.

A potential solution:
Would it be possible to notify us about updates without interrupting our use flow?

  • For example, a big red warning box, to the right of the menu, which we couldn't miss when looking at the screen (I'm usually interrupted while I'm 'not' looking at the screen .. because I'm typing my search command. This is doubly frustrating because it means having to repeat the search).
  • Or a warning at the top of the list of entries?
  • Or a warning in the footer area?
  • Or all text going red until we do the update (this may be going a bit far, but you get the idea).
It could be anywhere in the UI. And it can be as loud and unmissable as anyone wants, it just needs to not interrupt the task that the user was doing.

If some people like the pop-up screen, then this suggestion could be a selectable option.
My guess is that most people would prefer this, but I just know that it would be great for me. I don't like being mildly annoyed, every day, by one of my favourite apps.

Thanks,
Damian

If this feature is added, I would like to suggest that there is an additional option to set the modal pop-up display time in seconds.
