Hi,
Could you implement a functionality to be able to duplicate an existing Auto-Type custom sequence ?
For instance, for one website, I generally have to create at least 2 custom sequences :

  • The default one : {CLEARFIELD}{UserName}{TAB}{CLEARFIELD}{Password}{ENTER}
  • One with just the password : {CLEARFIELD}{Password}{ENTER}
    Being able to duplicate an entry will save us a lot of time. Each time I have to create new custom sequences from scratch, with the same target window.

    You can easily edit the sequence and add elements from the pick list when in the edsit window.

    For that sequence I would just edit the Auto-Type to {PASSWORD}{ENTER}.

    cheers, Paul

    Hi Paul,
    Yes, we can easily edit the sequence with the useful pick list, my request is not to ease the input of custom sequences.
    My request is to ease the input of the target window which is often the same for multiple custom sequences. If we could duplicate an entry, the target windows will already be set.

    I can't see an easy way to show existing window matches without upsetting the existing dropdown that shows running window titles.
    You can duplicate the target window by copying an existing entry.

    cheers, Paul

    When I create new custom sequence entries, generally I don't have the target window running in the same place because I use my replicated Keepass database on many of my devices (computers, smartphones), but I only modify it on one "master" device for Keepass. So that is why I find it more easy to duplicate the entries, then modify the sequence, rather than creating a new entry, then closing it, going to the pre-created entry, copy the Target Window text, then closing it, then reopening the new entry, then pasting the Target Window text... A lot of click and editing. For one entry, this is ok, but in a month I may create 20 additionnal entries like that.

    You could use templates. Set anything you require in the template - leave the password blank as that doesn't auto-update, or use this nice work around.

    I'm already using templates and password profiles, which is great. But this does not answer to my need... I will have to create custom sequences, and to input the target window for each custom sequence.

    Don't you see the benefit of a "Duplicate" button in the custom sequence window?
    Like that :

    The Duplicate button could open a windows with the data of the selected custom sequence in it, and then asking to update it. Please note: even if having duplicates in the custom sequences list is permitted, I don't know really know what it could be used for. For me it is irrelavant to allow it. Maybe Keepass could highlight in red color the detected duplicates in the custom sequence list, but that's an another request. In the screenshot I gave you, I have so many entries that I may have duplicates... but I don't have time to check each entry one by one (on top of that, the windows is not wide enough to show the Target Window and the entire Sequence, and we can't enlarge it).

    That's an impressive list of custom sequences.
    We'll have to wait and see if Dominik thinks it's worth adding.

    cheers, Paul

    Too bad this feature is still not implemented. Each time I had to create new entries, I waste a lot of time to create all the custom sequences entries. That waste of time will be spared if the "Duplicate" features was available.

    Why not put all your sequences into a template and use that for new entries? Simple to remove the sequences you don't require.

    Hi Paul, no that wouldn't be optimized. It will not really gain time compared to what I already do. And for approximatively half of my entries I only need one custom sequence.

    I've now added a 'Duplicate Item(s)' command in the context menu of the auto-type associations list.

    Here's the latest development snapshot, if you want to test it:

    Thanks and best regards,
