Duplicate Auto-Type entries
A lightweight and easy-to-use password manager

Hi.
This is very usual situation where I have plenty of auto-type entries in one account entry, and they often have very similar (and complex) sequences, that differs only in couple of elements. So I have to enter them again and again manually.
It would be nice to have option of duplicating auto-type entries.
Yes, this feature would be really interesting.
For some entries, for the same target URL I have to enter the username, then the password (in two steps)

You already have a duplicate post button, now all you need is a duplicate Auto-Type one. :)

Good joke, but ther feature would be extremely useful.
I'd upvote this one, too.
You could create a Template from that entry and use it for new items.
Templates are set in File > Database Settings > Advanced

I think you don't understand the need here... The feature requested would be greatly useful. For the moment we have to create manually every auto-type entries, using a Notepad for copying/pasting the Target Window Name etc...
To create new password entries just to create new auto-type combinations? Are you kidding?
It's a stupid joke

You don't need to use Notepad, you can copy / paste within KeePass and then click on the predefined items.
A specific list of existing Auto-Type entries requires collecting the manually entered items from every entry, de-duplicating and sorting, then presenting them in a list. It's a lot of effort for something you can do with a bit of copy/paste.

It's bosh. Any way lot of efforts is not needed, no collecting, deduplication and sorting, just copy and paste, copy a piece of bytes from one to another place, in case of KeePass entry it will be a copy of one XML node to another.
Nothing more.
Hi Paul,
For adding an additional Auto-type entry, I first have to create the new entry, then paste the URL I have previously copied. Then I have to close the entry, then reopen the previous entry, then copy the AutoType sequence, then close this entry, then open the second entry, and paste the AutoType sequence, then close it, then creating a new Auto-Type entry, and so forth... You understand why it is better to use an external text editor in order to significantly reduce the number of copy/paste actions. I agree it is not optimized... I would be so easier to have a "duplicate" button!
I also think this could be handy, along with some facility for comparing strings across entries. Several times I've wished I could add an Auto-Type column to the main viewer and sort by it to pinpoint similarities and differences.
As there is no guarantee Dominik will add this function, I would create a template with all the sequences you have / need.
New entries would use that template.
Delete the commands you don't need.
Job done!

Testing for another issue I discovered that existing Auto-Type commands are already provided in a drop down, but only in the "Override default sequence" Auto-Type box.
Maybe this can be expanded to the Target window sequence field.

I'm not seeing this; could you provide a screenshot?
It's a search based list. Type { to list everything starting with {.
cheers, Paul
I've now added a 'Duplicate Item(s)' command in the context menu of the auto-type associations list.
Here's the latest development snapshot, if you want to test it:
