I get the following when I try to use blank spaces for the password.
You have selected to use an empty master password. An empty master password is not the same as using no master password at all. Are you sure you want to use an empty master password.?
I don't understand the difference between the two ways.
    Please help. Thanks

    • No password means the user does not include a Master Password as part of the Master Key. The Master Password check box must NOT be checked and the password field must be left empty when entering the Master Key.
    • An empty password means that the user has designated a null Master Password. The Master Password check box must be checked but the password field must be left empty when entering the Master Key.

The technical difference probably has to do with how KeePass mixes the three components of the Master Key during Hashing and Key derivation. For some general discussion about encryption key derivation see http://keepass.info/help/base/security.html#seckeyhash. The important user difference is that the user must know whether or not to check the Master Password check box when they open/unlock their database.

I get the following when I try to use blank spaces for the password.

Spaces are characters and therefore are different than either no password or an empty password.
