I recently started seeing an error message display as I exit KeePass (screenshot attached), something related to the configuration file. This happens even when I don't make any policy or configuration changes to KeePass settings. Having said that, I did edit the KeePass.config.xml file some time ago, making changes to the security policies in it and also the policy settings available through the KeePass menu options. I have noticed that running the application as an administrator does not cause the error message to display, but only when run as standard. Not sure what the cause is, but hoping someone has remedied a similar issue before.
When installing KeePass (using 'KeePass-X.YY-Setup.exe' or 'KeePass-X.YY.msi'), you should not edit the 'KeePass.config.xml' file in the application directory. Details can be found here: https://keepass.info/help/base/configuration.html

This helped, tah! Changing the name of the existing 'KeePass.config.xml' to 'KeePass.config.enforced.xml' carried over all my user preferences, and the behaviour of KeePass is fine now with no errors on exit.

If you want to enforce certain settings (for all users of this KeePass installation), use an enforced configuration file:
