I'm entering links in the URL field, but I cannot get it responding. E.g. https://sourceforge.net/p/keepass/discussion/ appears in blue. Click, double click, no joy. While links entered into the Notes field do work. what can the reason be?

In the entry dialog, the URL is blue, but not clickable. The entry dialog is intended for editing entries only.
You can open/run a URL in the main window (by double-clicking onto the URL cell in the entry list, by pressing Ctrl+U, by clicking the 'Open URL(s)' toolbar button, by clicking the URL link in the entry view, ...).

Might you have the 'copy URLs to clipboard instead' option selected?
