Quite regularly I notice that I get an invalid login warning because the first character of the username is missed. Now I never had this issue with the Keepass 1.x series but all the time on the 2.x series. It seems like the Auto-Type starts too fast. Is there a way to slow this down or another way to fix this?
I have this happen on both FF and IE.
Thanks for any help.

Quite common on IE but there is no common cause - apart from IE. Not seen it happen on FF.
Have you tried a test entry in Notepad to see if it happens there?
cheers, Paul

Same here, i tried the Notepad test and it confirmed that the first username char is not sent.
Some more info:
- Upgraded from 1.7 to the last version 2.14
- Imported the old kdb file
- The problem shows only with imported entries, if I create a new entry it works ok
- If I duplicate an imported entry the problem occurs also on it
- If I have two entries with the same title and appears the dialog that let me choose the correct entry, the problem doesn't occur
As a workaround I simply add a space in front of the problematic username.
Hope it helps
Cheers, Marco

Hi, Paul
yes, I have the default auto-type sequence inherited from group, that on its turn have the inherited auto-type of the parent (the root) that I didn't set or change.
Bye, Marco

I use the RDCAutotype Plugins and added the iexplore.exe to its program list.
This way I've no problems using IE under XP and also in Windows 7.
For both OSs I currently use IE8

Does this happen in IE only?
Do you have Tools > Options > Auto-Type > Prepend special ticked?

Hello Paul,
I don't use IE, just Firefox. The OP said that it occurred in both IE and FF, I can confirm only the last one.
At the moment I'm not home so I can't check what is set in the option you asked. But I didn't change nothing since the install, so the value should be the default one.
If I'll have a little time, I will check the behaviour on my work machine just to see if it happens the same.
Bye, Marco

Hi, sorry for the delay.
I've tried the same steps on my work computer, with the same OS (XP sp3) and the same old kdb files. But, in this case, everything worked fine. The username is sent correctly without a itch.
So, I'm a little bit confused. There must be something in the configuration of my home system that prevented KeePass 2.14 from doing the import the correct way, but I haven't slightest idea of what could be.
Thanks anyway to everybody
Marco

If the same DB works on another computer it's not KeePass that is the problem.
Do you have a personal firewall, clipboard program or other utility on the home machine?
cheers, Paul

The kdb are almost the same. I mean, I have one local copy of the kdb on both my home and work computer and one shared through Google Docs. In both systems, these are the steps I did:
- Import the local kdb (I think with the option 'overwrite the identical keys' or something like that)
- Import the shared kdb (with the option 'get the newer key')
- Cut and pasted all the imported entries under the root Internet group (that's the one I used to)
I have installed Comodo Firewall on both machine and on the work one I have an application that remaps some keys, but it shouldn't be an issue because on that system the import worked.

here is the same problem, changed to my notebook with windows xp professional, using keepass 2.14. On another system everything was well. Database used is on my server, opening by ftp. why is this system cutting the first letter ?
auto type entry is also not working. I can type the first letter, then keepass autotypes the rest.
any idea out there ?

Try adding a delay at the beginning or between keystrokes.
{DELAY 500}{USERNAME}{TAB}{PASSWORD}{ENTER}

I can confirm this is happening as well, on several system. These include Windows 7 & XP, all working on IE8. Keepass v 1.18.
Here are some added twists. Everything works fine on initial launch of the program and for a few hours afterward. At some point this behavior begins. As an added oddity, one user has noticed that one of his records will activate and try to use one of the menu options in the Menu bar. Closing the application and restarting it does not fix the problem.

I experienced the same issue on random basis. Based on some posts I tried adding a “_” to my user name but, because of the random nature of this issue, I still had the same issue.
I have tried with “escape” key in the auto type sequence and it works like a charm. Here is what my entry looks like:
Auto-Type:{ESC}{USERNAME}{TAB}{PASSWORD}{ENTER}
Please post if this resolves the issue.

You should merge all your databases to get back to one common point, then test again.

KeePass doesn't change the way it works so it may be something Windows does. Without a definitive example it's very difficult to troubleshoot.

{ESC} worked for me. I followed with a delay, which may or may not have mattered.
