    Hello all,

I got into the bad habbit of storing two separate Keepass databases :( - I would like to know if there is a way to merge both these databases into one database -

    thank you

This only works properly if the databases started life as identical copies. If not you will have quite a bit of duplication to sort out.

To reduce the number of duplicated entries, one could try the 'RmvDup' plugin: http://keepass.info/plugins.html .

      Best regards

I'm a little confused as to what is being merged/copied. I use 1.06 on a thumb drive and also my home pc. I created the initial database on my home computer and then copied the entire keepass folder on to my thumbdrive. If I add an entry to my thumbdrive version while at work I copy it over the version on my pc when I get home and vice versa. This works fine until I forget and cant remember which one is the most up to date. If I use the import function I will get the new entry but also duplicates of the older entries?

I have the same problem and believe that it's solved  by looking at the bottom of the KP screen where it says :

      xx Groups/  xxy Entries

The number of groups will be the same on your thumb drive and on your pc. However you will have more entries on the site where you added a new entry. You should omit the Backups from this calculation(I just delete them).

The user was asking about MERGING 2 databases, one would assume that means combining 2 DIFFERENT databases.

You certainly CAN just copy a DB from one machine to another or a thumb drive just to maintain multiple copies.  I do it daily using SynchBack ( http://www.2brightsparks.com/welcome/aw2/backup.html?gclid=CN-B_9PRyZQCFQyI1QodVFfFkw ).

Where you copied the database between USB and hard disk, importing the KeePass database will work well. Only additional / changed entries will be imported.
The downside is that you have to do it on both databases - open the USB and import the hard disk, then vice versa.

      cheers, Paul
