Just learned KeePass2+ over the weekend... AWESOME software!! Thanks to all of you who create and fortify this sweet program.

QUESTION: Is there a way or a plugin that can transfer my "Profile" settings from one computer to my other computers and smartphone? I notice each computer retains only the profiles created on that specific computer. Once built, I'd like to have my unique database <.kdbx> profiles transfer from one computer to another without rebuilding them. Any Ideas out there how I can do that?

Thanks again for a sublime password manager! Mike (vistaman@earthlink.net)

I am not clear what you are meaning by "profile". KeePass stores all of its password data in the database file .kbdx.

If you want to use KeePass on multiple computers/phones then this could be achieved by copying the .kbdx file between them. This simple method though has many drawbacks and a far better way is to use a cloud service to synchronise the databases between your multiple computers. At first sight this seems to be a complication but it ensures that each computer always receives updates made on any computer. It avoids all complications if you should make a mistake and update one record in the database on one computer and forget to copy it to the others and then make another change on a different computer. It eliminates the possibility of an update being overridden.

The process uses "triggers" and is described in the following page
    http://keepass.info/help/kb/trigger_examples.html
Look for " Syncronising with Dropbox...."

Although Dropbox is mentioned in this link the process should work with any cloud service. I use TeamDrive as I am more confident in their security than Dropbox. it works across all platforms.

Please remember that your database is encrypted with your encryption key and is hence protected from being cracked even though it is stored in the cloud. TeamDrive adds a further layer of encryption as all data is encrypted on your PC, or phone, before it is written to the cloud. A cloud service futhermore usually provides a backup (TeamDrive keeps multiple historic versions enabling you to recover is your KeePass databvase file should get corrupted or deleted.

I have been syncronising between laptops and more recently Android phones for many years this way with no issues..

Thank you for responding. I understand how to sync the database file between devices. "Profiles" are created and saved within the database in the "Password Manager" to hold onto specific requirements needed by different websites to change their passwords on the fly as it were. Those "profiles" don't seem to transfer when synchronizing the database between devices. It'd be convenient if they did. Would make it easy to hold onto those unique parameters during the database synchronizations. Maybe it's not possible yet. I was just hoping there was a plugin that could do it.

Hi, I'm no expert by a long shot, ( the pro's will respond I'm sure) but I think what you are asking about is where the things like password generator configurations are stored. If that's correct, they are stored along with things like trigger configurations and how keepass looks and feels, in a file called keepass.config.xml

Depending how you installed keepass, it can be in various places. I installed the full version when I was logged on as myself, so in my case, the file is located in
    C:\Users\GeorgeWashington\AppData\Roaming\KeePass
I had to turn on 'See Hidden Files' to see the hidden directories.

I routinely back this file up so I would not have to recreate triggers and password configurations.
    Hope this helps
