Updated the portable software to 2.481 (portable) from 2.46 (Portable),
When I open the file (database) from within the software - open keepass.exe -
the "about" shows software version 2.481, on the other hand when I use Windows Explorer and
right click the file (database) and open file from that location, "about" - software version \ shows
Version 2.46, Why is that 2 different versions?

You have at least two different versions of KeePass on your computer. Unlike the setup version of KeePass, multiple copies of KeePass portable can be located on a computer. If no other instance of KeePass is running when you right-click on a .kdbx file and press open, the version of KeePass that is associated with the .kdbx file type opens the database.
Search your computer for all instances of keepass.exe. The oldest copy will have older date modified dates on the files in the folder containing keepass.exe. You can also run each executable and check the version. While this method is authoritative, it is not reliable unless you make certain that no other instance of KeePass is running when you start KeePass by double-clicking on keepass.exe.
